Robotic Storage Facility Announces Development Team

RoboVault Teams with Area’s Best

FT. LAUDERDALE – RoboVault, the first high-tech robotic storage facility of its kind in the world, has assembled an outstanding team of construction, design and development professionals.

South Florida’s well-known Miller Construction Company has been named General Contractor. One of the area’s most respected contractors for over 30 years, Miller Construction Company is a prominent South Florida design/builder and construction services firm for the office, warehouse/distribution, education, retail, health care and industrial markets. The architect for the project is Gustavo Carbonell of Fort Lauderdale.

The high-tech, automated self storage system is provided by Germany’s Westfalia Technologies Inc. Westfalia’s Automated Self Storage Retrieval System (AS/RS) technology and Savanna.NET® Warehouse Management System will manage and control the movement of the units throughout the facility.

BankAtlantic is providing financing for the project.

Designed to withstand up to Category 5 hurricanes, RoboVault is equipped with back-up power generation. Its unprecedented combination of technology includes heart beat detection, biometric recognition and private access with 24/7 security monitoring.

RoboVault’s extraordinary storage capabilities and high-tech security features distinguishes it from all previous storage facilities. A fully automated robotic container retrieval system safely stores valuables ranging in size from exotic automobiles to precious artwork and other priceless items. Adjacent rooms offer climate-controlled wine storage and private safe deposit boxes catering to individual requirements.

The highly anticipated facility is strategically located just north of Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport at the northwest intersection of I-595 and US 1 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at 3340 SE 6th Avenue. The target completion date has been set for April of 2009.

Chaney, who began his career as a CPA, has developed self-storage facilities for over 25 years, first in Detroit and then in Florida. In 1986, in response to increasing land costs, he developed the first multi-story self storage facility in the State of Florida.
